Replacement of only damaged part of the knee, in a young lady

• This young lady had an unstable patella for long duration, and finally after years felt disability due to unstable patella and 'locking'. She was diagnosed to have damage to limited portion of the knee, the knee cap joint (patella-femoral joint).

  We did replacement of only the damaged portion, what is called isolated patella-femoral replacement. Her problems of locking and pain got sorted out to great extent. This is a new trend in treating a damaged joint, where we are going away from replacing the whole joint, particularly in younger patients.
