Limited replacement of only the damaged part of the knee

  • It is well known that knee can be replaced when it is damaged beyond repair. In some situations, the damage is limited to only a part of the joint, and not the whole joint. Such patients have significant symptoms but are not so badly damned to justify total knee replacement. In such cases (those with limited damage), we perform limited replacement – that of only the damaged part. Thereby, we keep the original knee as it is. Recovery is faster and the knee feels like normal. If by any chance, patient develops pain sometime later after surgery, the knee can be converted to full replacement.
