Young Lady Operated Outside, Landed in Severe Complication, Salvaged

  • This 25 year old lady had fracture of lower end of the thigh bone. She was operated else where from inner side of the knee, not a usual approach. Screws were put in, and were later removed. The lady was finding it difficult to walk due to lack of stability in the knee. On examination, it was found that the ligament on the inner side of the knee was not competent. During surgery it was noticed that in the previous surgery, in order to expose the fracture, the whole ligament was peeled off the bone, and hence it become non-functional. Repair of the ligament was done along with reconstruction.
